ENGLISH > Welcome Greetings

Dear colleagues and honorable members,

Welcome to the 46th Annual Scientific Congress of the Korean Association of Orthodontists and the 51st General Meeting. The meeting will be held at the Jeju International Convention Center from Oct 31st through Nov 2nd, 2013, featuring a Charity Golf Tournament, Council Meeting and Welcome Reception on Oct 31st, followed by main academic sessions and Opening Ceremony on Nov 1st-2nd, 2013.
Based on the understanding of the significance of evidence-based orthodontics as a field of science, the main theme of the upcoming meeting is 'Fact-or Fiction: Evidence-Based Orthodontics', with Dr. Greg Huang (University of Washington) as a keynote speaker. Another special lecture regarding self-ligating brackets by two invited speakers - Dr. Ki-Beom Kim (Saint Louis University) and Dr. Frank Bodgan (New Jersey, US) - will be an interesting event, facilitating profound discussion on the pros and cons of self-ligating brackets.

The symposium's title, 'Diagnosis and Treatment using Digital Orthodontics', reflects the cutting edge digital technologies that are applied to many clinical orthodontic fields and will feature renowned orthodontists from Korea, Japan and the United States. In this symposium, various applications of digital systems in clinical orthodontics will be discuss to demonstrate the clinical process of the appliance design and outcome measures.

Additional features such as E-poster presentations, table clinics and the charity art exhibition will also highlight the meeting. Electronic programs accessible by mobile phones and an electronic registration system for continuing education will also be provided for members' convenience. Jeju island is one of Korea's most favored vacation spots, attracting many international tourists and natives all year round, and I hope all participants will enjoy the beautiful scenery and attractions as well as the academic events.

I believe that this meeting will be a great opportunity for the academic growth of not only the KAO members, but also orthodontists from all over the world. We hope to continue to develop strong ties among international orthodontists, coworkers and family members while fostering mutual friendships.
