Welcome message

Dear KAO members and colleagues

It is my pleasure and honor to serve you as the President of the Korean Association of Orthodontists (KAO) from April 1st, 2018 for two years. KAO was founded in 1959, and we will be celebrating our 60th Anniversary of the Korea Association of Orthodontists in 2019. KAO is one of the largest dental organization which has 6 subsidiary branches with 3,231 active members.

I would like to invite all of you to our Annual Scientific Congress 2018 which will be held in COEX, Seoul, South Korea from November 21st (Wednesday) to 23rd (Friday). The congress committee is working hard to make changes and improvements to serve KAO members. Since 1968, the Annual Scientific Congress has invited many world-class speakers to satisfy the needs of KAO members. Lectures are provided with English, Chinese, and Japanese translation. We are looking forward to cooperating with many orthodontic associations around world and need your support and dedication.

I am proud to announce that the Korean Journal of Orthodontics (KJO) is one of most prestigious journals in our specialty and, while indexed in SCIE, it has become available in English since 2012. KJO has been widely exposed to the international orthodontists through pubmed and its impact factor has been continuously increasing due to its excellence. Besides KJO, Clinical Journal of Korean Association of Orthodontists (KJCO), provided in Korean, is published for development and improvement of the clinical techniques for members. We welcome your submission and comments for our journals.

The KAOF, Korean Association of Orthodontists Foundation, was established in 2009 and it was approved as a nonprofit organization from administration of health and welfare. The major achievement is to provide free orthodontic treatment for children and adolescents in low income families. 1121 teenagers have received the benefits from 2003 until 2017. Presently, the program is co-sponsored by the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation. Volunteers from our KAO members are much appreciated for their unconditional efforts and time.

Also, KAO official website has been recently updated. We appreciate your continuous support and dedication. Our committee and I are welcoming your suggestions and indeed this would help our association to grow beyond in the years to come.

April 1st 2018

Yoon-Ah Kook
President of the Korean Association of Orthodontists
