Special Lecture

How We Extended the Limits of Tooth Movement with Implant Orthodontics?
Young-Chel Park

Lecture Description
The bone anchorage orthodontics brought a revolution in orthodontic paradigm, especially, the range of orthodontic (and orthopedic) tooth movement is significantly broadened.

With the proper use of mini screws, we can overcome the limits of conventional orthodontic tooth movement, and we can also extend the envelope of tooth movement in the three dimensional planes.

This presentation will present the evidence and rationale for the correction of the three dimensional problems (that is, Anterior-Posterior, Vertical, , and Transverse problems) with the proper use of mini-screw implants.

Clinical tips, biomechanics and biologic background in the patients with three dimensional problems will be demonstrated with the treated cases.

Additionally, the stability and long term retention data after three dimensional tooth movement will also be introduced.
Learning objective
  1. To learn how to correct the three dimensional problems efficiently with mini-screws.
  2. Biomechanical considerations and clinical tips for correction of the three dimensional problems by using mini-screws
  3. To learn how to correct the three dimensional problems and the modifications in the appliance design
  4. The stability after three dimensional tooth movement and to learn how to reduce the relapse.
