The History and Legacy of the WIOA
Glenn T. Sameshima

Lecture Description
Among the many international meetings held around the world, the WIOC is a relative newcomer. Yet from its beginnings here in Seoul in 2009, the meeting quickly established itself as one of the most progressive and innovative, with established speakers and researchers, as well as rising stars in orthodontics, many of whom got their start with the WIOC. Led by a group of dedicated board members, the WIOA has gained renown for holding its annual meeting in great locations, and holding costs down so that more people, especially students, could attend. The result has been an extremely popular, and highly sought-after event where orthodontists not only learn established techniques in skeletal anchorage, but the latest innovations as well. This thirty-minute lecture will highlight and celebrate the history, places, and wonderful people of the WIOA.
